Yahoo! Finance platform announced an integration of buying and selling option for three cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin (Bitcoin: BITCOIN), Ethereum (BITFINEX: ETH/USD.BITFINEX) and Litecoin (BITFINEX: ETH/USD.BITFINEX).
Users of the Yahoo! Finance platform will be able to buy and sell the above cryptocurrencies using the most popular trading platforms, including Coinbase and Robinhood.
It also offers rates for other coins, such as Bitcoin Cash (EXANTE: BCH.EXANTE), Ethereum Classic (BITFINEX: ETC/USD.BITFINEX), and EOS (EXANTE: EOS.EXANTE), but there is no option to buy this digital currency yet.
Experts are sure that this is one of the most important steps for the cryptocurrency industry. Charlie Lee, the founder of Litecoin has commented on the novelty saying that all big moves are made “one step at a time”
Earlier this March the company’s subsidiary Yahoo Japan has announced its intention to open a crypto exchange by April 2019. To achieve this goal Yahoo has initiated an acquisition of BitARG Exchange Tokyo in April and will spend the next year using BitARG’s technology to build a full-fledged exchange.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
- Yahoo! Finance is a popular economic portal where one can also purchase traditional financial assets. The ability to buy cryptocurrency through the application will help retain the audience and attract new users, for whom it will be easier to track rates and perform operations on the same platform.
- Perhaps in the future, the service might add functionality to perform transactions with Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum Classic and EOS. Yahoo Finance regularly updates information on the rates of these cryptocurrencies.
