Engineer and CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Elon Musk said in his Twitter, that he would be pleased to invest into Ether. Despite the fact that the entrepreneur's statement was a joke, it caused a blizzard response in the social media.
As such, in the thread for blocked spam accounts, Musk praised the actions of the Twitter management and added that such a policy would "increase the real usage" of the platform. In response, one of the users joked about the distribution of ether, announced in Musk’s fake account in February.
"Elon so you won't send me that ETH after all?" - he wrote.
The entrepreneur did not change the tone of the conversation and continued to respond with jokes, promising that "It’s coming, I swear".
To the offer of another user to buy out the Big Falcon Rocket for 200 Ethereum coins, Musk replied: "At this point, I want ETH even if it is a scam"
According to some reports, Musk really owns a small amount of cryptocurrency. In February, he told that he still keeps 0.25 BTC, which his friend once sent him.
The distribution of ETH by the fake bots is not the first scam that involves Elon Musk and his Tesla company. In February this year, a cloud infrastructure, ensuring the operation of electric cars, has been attacked by hackers, who used it for mining Bitcoins.
Recall that the massive bots attack on Twitter began this year. Although initially it was disguised as a small group of influential personalities from the blockchain sphere, scammers eventually switched to the names of the most known cryptocurrency projects. So, Musk himself repeatedly launched crypto "giveaways" along with Warren Buffett and others, which probably led him to draw attention to the issue.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
- The scale of the bots' activity led to the fact that in the names of many popular accounts on Twitter you could see the phrase ‘Not giving away ETH’, but this does not affect the activity of intruders. The Twitter management did not take any specific measures to solve the problem for a long time.
- Users tried to send information about scammers on their own, but bots found the Twitter vulnerability, which allows them to rename verified accounts, which makes the pseudo-distribution of cryptocurrency even more convincing.
