Satoshi Nakamoto’s personal fortune doesn’t exceed 700,000 bitcoins, as reported by the research division of the BitMex platform. According to the analysts, it is most likely that the name of Nakamoto could belong to a miner who dominated the bitcoin network in 2009.
Authors of the analysis published on BitMex blog, based their research on the work of RSK Labs co-founder Sergio Lerner, released back in 2013. Lerner came to the conclusion that Satoshi produced about 1 million bitcoins. BitMex considered that the fortune of this miner — be it one person or a group of people — does not exceed 700,000 bitcoins.
Experts behind the analysis note that their results are far from perfect, and that applies also to Lerner's research. BitMex agrees with its findings where they deal with the period up until August 2009. After this date, in their opinion, it is already difficult to say that the same miner is dominant in the network. In addition, analysts conclude, Satoshi Nakamoto probably procured block number 9, but it cannot be said for sure that he was that most dominant miner.
In June, to a request by a journalist from Motherboard, the CIA stated that they can neither confirm nor deny possessing information about Satoshi Nakamoto.
