TRON’s Justin Sun claimed via Twitter that TRON (TRX) is “80 times faster than Ethereum,” the second largest cryptocurrency after bitcoin. Given that transaction speed is an important factor in the mass adoption of the currency and its convenience, this gives TRON the upper hand over ethereum.
TRON is 80 times faster than Ethereum. With 14 years of experience, @BitTorrent is providing a world-class service to 100 million users in 138 countries. Add the two together and you get the largest and most advanced peer-to-peer network in the world! #TRONBT $TRX pic.twitter.com/EsQd34Vq4u

Recently Tron launched its own mainnet, breaking away from the ERC20 and migrating to its own TRX20 token, however, the split was not an easy one. Now having bought BitTorrent, a world famous torrent client, TRON hopes to establish the most prominent peer-to-peer (p2p) network available.
It's official. BitTorrent is now part of #TRON. We pioneered the world's largest decentralized p2p protocol, now we're joining forces with TRON to build the future of the decentralized internet. Read more at https://t.co/ZoCPl5c5wS. @Tronfoundation @justinsuntron pic.twitter.com/EI3xP8Gdz2

This is the second occasion in a couple of weeks that Sun has compared TRON with ethereum, and claimed TRON to be better.
Why #TRON is better than #ETH: 1. 2000TPS vs. 25TPS 2. Popular sovereignty of token vs. Authoritarian rules 3. 100M Dapp users vs. Thousands 4. None fees vs. High fees 5. Coin burn vs. No coin burn 6. $2B bonus vs. Zero 7. High scalability vs Poor scalability #TRX $TRX pic.twitter.com/W7jEjmx0wp

To which Buterin replied:
8. Better white paper writing capability (Ctrl+C + Ctrl+V much higher efficiency than keyboard typing new content)
— Vitalik Non-giver of Ether (@VitalikButerin) April 6, 2018
TRON indeed is superior in speed (TPS), which has always been the company's strength, however, currently, TRON is ranked 11th by Market Capitalization on CoinMarketCap, while the "inferior" Ethereum is feeling quite comfortable in its usual 2nd place.
Vitalik Buterin, known to be very outspoken in his opinions, as of yet has not made any comment regarding this.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
- TRON migrated to its own mainnet from the ethereum platform and has been in conflict with Buterin for a while now. The split was not an easy one.
- The fact that a much lesser crypto at 11th place is going for the 2nd biggest and successful crypto out there is astounding.
