Bank of Canada published its research on the statistics of Bitcoin owners. Apparently, 58% of Canadians who own Bitcoin, do that because they think it’s an investment.
Also, 1% of the survey respondents declared that they own Bitcoin because they do not trust banks.
In 2017, 5% of Canadians answered “Yes” to the question “Do you own Bitcoin”; it is a substantially higher percentage than 2,9% in 2016.
The research is an update to the analytical paper of ‘Bitcoin Awareness and Usage in Canada’ by Bitcoin Omnibus Survey.
The survey also includes a tough question, such as “What is the current price of Bitcoin?
Two years ago there has been a similar survey conducted. At that time, the percentage of Canadians who owned bitcoin increased from 2,9% to 5%, and the percentage of informed citizens jumped to 85%.
Earlier in June Canada’s Department of Finance was working on new regulations regarding cryptocurrencies. In the draft of the documentation, crypto was defined as a Virtual Currency.
