Chen Weixing, CEO of app developer Funcity and founder of Chinese ride-hailing app Kuaidi Daiche, has announced his plans to launch a blockchain-based ride-sharing equivalent to Uber, China Money Network reported yesterday.

The service will be developed in tandem with Yang Jun, co-founder of Chinese group discount app Meituan. The project’s final aim is to create a platform that offers lifestyle services encompassing ride-hailing, deliveries and others.

The remaining details of the project have not yet been disclosed.

Chen is one of China’s most vocal pro-blockchain and cryptocurrency advocates - he has invested in over a dozen crypto projects, including the country's largest crypto exchange - Huobi and Binance.
