Monero hard-fork has been made and the network snapshot has been taken at the #1564965 block. Mainnet release will follow in a couple of days.

Earlier in April, after Bitmain launched sales of the new Antminer X3, Monero (XMR/USD) decided to undergo a hard-fork in order to ensure that the network would be ASIC-resistant.

Monero (XMR) holders will also become MoneroV (XMV) owners in ratio 1:10. Monero coins are unlimited but the distinctive feature of MoneroV is that only 256 Million XMV tokens will exist. This number shall be reached by 2067. MoneroV incorporates new cryptonight algorithm variation for mitigating ASIC mining.

MoneroV is already supported by exchanges including HitBTC, CoinEx, BTC-alpha, Coinroom, Octaex and others.
