World’s second largest cryptocurrency exchange OKEx will be expanding to Malta, the trading platform announced on its website.

OKEx representatives have met with Maltese government and regulatory leaders to understand their legislative and regulatory plans.

“We look forward to working with the Malta government as it is forward thinking and shares many of our same values: the most important of which are protection of traders and the general public, compliance with Anti Money Laundering and Know Your Customer standards, and recognition of the innovation and importance of continued development in the Blockchain ecosystem,” OKEx CEO Chris Lee said.

OKEx is also looking to join the Malta Blockchain community, including participating in Malta’s Government sponsored DLT Delta Conference in October, 2018.

Malta is actively building a supportive regulatory and technical infrastructure to support the blockchain industry and is looking for ways to become a hub for digital-asset ventures.

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by traded value, last month revealed plans to open an office in Malta.
