San Francisco-based cloud computing giant Salesforce is working on a blockchain product, the company’s co-founders Marc Benioff and Parket Harrissaid told Business Insider in an interview.

Marc Benioff said that thinking of blockchain technology and ways to use it for Salesforce purposes came to him during his participation in the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

He recognized an opportunity to expand Salesforce’ product portfolio, which already includes sales cloud, service cloud, platform, marketing cloud, commerce cloud among other, in a meaningful manner using blockchain technology.

The company could be announcing a blockchain product during the Dreamforce, the Salesforce’s annual customer conference. It is planned to be held this year from September 25-28 in San Francisco.

Founded in 1999, Salesforce pioneered the revolutionary idea of replacing traditional desktop CRM software with CRM in the cloud, making it accessible anytime from anywhere. Market capitalization of one of the most highly valued American cloud computing companies is above $85 billion.
