Twitter (TIKER: TWTR.NYSE) may follow Facebook (TIKER: FB.NASDAQ) and Google to prohibit a range of cryptocurrency advertisements, Sky News reported.
According to the source, the new advertising policy will be implemented in two weeks and currently stands to prohibit advertisements for ICOs, token sales, and cryptocurrency wallets globally.
Twitter may also ban all ads for cryptocurrency exchanges, with some limited exceptions, when the policy is launched.
The report follows an earlier statement by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey that the microblogging site was starting to ban users who “solicit cryptocurrencies and/or promote ICOs in their tweets.”
Jack Dorsey, said during a Periscope live stream that the company was looking for a way to verify the identity of every Twitter user.
Meanwhile, Google and Facebook have both recently implemented policy changes to remove cryptocurrency-related ad content.
