The U.S. Marshals are set to auction off nearly $25 million worth of Bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) later this month, the service said in a statement.
Approximately 2,170 Bitcoins forfeited in various federal criminal, civil and administrative cases will be auctioned during a six-hour period March 19.
The Bitcoins are offered for sale in 14 blocks: two blocks of 500 Bitcoins, 11 blocks of 100 Bitcoins and one block of approximately 70 Bitcoins.
The service said the bid must be an all cash offer. Bids that are contingent on financing terms of any kind will not be considered. All bids must be made in U.S. dollars.
Just last month, the U.S. Marshals auctioned off more than 3,600 bitcoins to five winning bidders, an amount worth more than $30 million at the time.
