Bitcoin (TIKER: BTC.EXANTE) climbed back to $10,000 on Monday. The largest and most popular cryptocurrency gained as much as 9.44% to $10,379, after dropping below the key level last week, according to CoinMarketCap.com.
The rise comes after Circle Internet Financial Ltd., a firm backed by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (TIKER: GS.NYSE), said it acquired Poloniex Inc., the 14th largest digital-token exchange.
“It has a lot to do with this announcement of Circle buying Poloniex as it’s providing some support for the exchange industry,” Fundstrat’s Tom Lee told Bloomberg.
“Breaking a big round number is definitely a positive, but from a fundamental perspective, it’s highlighting that developments in crypto this year have actually been positive,” Lee added.
Other cryptocurrencies are also trending upwards. Among the top 10 most valuable cryptos, NEO was the biggest gainer, rising by 16.14% from its price 24 hours ago.
