Bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) smashed through the $5,000 barrier for the first time ever on Thursday, jumping as much as 7 percent to chalk up its biggest daily rise in over two weeks, The Cointelegraph reports.
The price hit an all-time high of $5,100 in early trade on Thursday, according to data from industry website Coindesk.
Analysts are more confident than ever that Bitcoin will stay above $5000 today as prices continue surging towards new highs.
Now, forecasts of resistance range from $5200 to $7000 should the largest digital currency hold above the barrier.
