BitPay, the Bitcoin (Bitcoin) payment processing company, published a blog post for its user base on Friday regarding Segwit2x, which stirred quite a bit of discussion among the ‘Bitcoin community,’ Bitcoin.com reports.
In the post “What Bitcore Users Need to Know To Be Ready for Segwit Activation” they gave a detailed explanation about the expected on August 22 consensus process with Segwit2x and left BTC1 software — Segwit2x — as a form of upgrade for Bitcore full nodes actually recommending it as an alternative to the Core reference code, already in use by 100% of miners.
The response from the community was immediate and severe.
“Bitpay is fraudulently passing off btc1 as Bitcoin software to which people are required to upgrade. This is highly unethical and a violation of the bitcoin.org hard fork policy,” Bitcoin.org operator Theymos said in a statement.
Developer Peter Todd called the statement of BitPay “fraudulent” and talked of litigation.
Spectacularly dishonest: @BitPay never mentions that they're talking about 2x rather than #segwit. Verges on fraud.https://t.co/javj9NzX0u

Programmer Eric Lombrozo called for his Twitter followers to openly ban any company that supports Segwit2x.
Meanwhile, bitcoin cash supporters are telling Segwit2x proponents to join them, as most believe the compromise is a failed attempt. It’s safe to say the quarrelling will be very intense over the next couple month.
