Bitcoin mining difficulty experienced a decline of more than 5% on July 5 and reached a quarterly low of 79.50 TH/s. This was the largest decline since March, when the rate briefly fell below 80 TH/s.

During the March to May period, the difficulty increased significantly, reaching an all-time high of 88.10 TH/s before gradually stabilizing to its current level.

The hashrate is updated every 2,016 blocks, which takes approximately two weeks. Historically, the hashrate has typically shown month-to-month growth, with few exceptions.

In 2014, for example, the hashrate was 1.1 gigahashes per second, low enough for most desktops to successfully mine Bitcoin.
