The team of the decentralized network Chainlink and the operator of the international interbank information transfer system SWIFT have just announced they intend to work together on a mechanism that will allow traditional financial institutions to make cryptocurrency transfers.

Developed as part of the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (SCIP) project, the protocol will allow instructions for the blockchain transfer of crypto assets to be sent in interbank system messages.

SWIFT's chief strategy officer, Jonathan Ehrenfeld Solé, has said that there is "undeniable interest from institutional investors in digital assets."

According to him, financial players want to access digital and traditional tools on the same platform.

Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov has noted that SCIP will enable institutions to develop and integrate new connections into legacy systems.
