Bitcoin Mining Energy Efficiency Rises 46% in One Year

The Bitcoin Mining Council (BMC) has just released its quarterly report on the state of the crypto mining sector focusing on energy consumption, technology efficiency and environmental metrics.

According to the document, at the end of Q2 2022, the total hashrate of BMC members amounted to 107.7 EH/s, which is more than 50% of the total.

Compared to April-June last year, the hashrate of the network has increased by 137%, while the power consumption has increased by 63%.

Mining efficiency has increased by 63% over the last year.

Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy, has said:

"We observed a 46% year-on-year increase in efficiency due to advances in semiconductor technology, the rapid expansion of North American mining, the China Exodus, and the worldwide adoption of sustainable energy and modern bitcoin mining techniques."

The share of green power in miners' consumption has increased by 6% over the past year to 59.5%.
