About 24% of the company's capacity is at the Spartanburg, South Carolina facility.

Environmentalists and New York Assemblywoman Anna Kelles urged in early June Governor Kathy Hochul to revoke Greenidge's mining permit.

The New York State Department of Environmental Protection rejected at the end of the month a pending application to renew the company's current operating permit.

Greenidge has said the Dresden facility will continue to operate as long as the company challenges the authority's decision in court.
