Chipmaker Intel has just unveiled the details of its new low-power Bitcoin mining chip.

The company has reported that the chip will be used in a high-performance 3,600-watt miner with the ultimate goal of improving Bitcoin mining efficiency.

According to the announcement, which has been made at the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) 2022, the Bonanza Mine (BMZ2) is the second version of an ultra-low-voltage, energy-efficient Bitcoin mining chip that can deliver 40 terahashes per second (TH/s).

Intel filed a patent back in November 2018 related to "high-performance Bitcoin mining" focused on reducing overall power consumption by approximately 15%.

The BMZ2 chips are expected to follow a similar architecture to its first generation mining chip, BMZ1, in which more than 300 chips, powered by a 3,600 W miner, work together to deliver up to 40 TH/s in a balanced environment.

However, this device will be able to operate in high-performance and power-saving modes to optimize the power-to-cost ratio in various degrees of mining efficiency.
