When you first start your business, there may not be a lot of money to hand. Even if there is, you won’t want to waste it and spend it where it is not needed. So, what should you do? The truth is you need to focus on your marketing. Without this element of your business, there will be no business as no one will know about you, and no one will spend their money with you.
Marketing is so important that it can pay to outsource from the start, as you need to get it right. If you choose to do this yourself, you must market to the right people. It’s Hard Work
It may seem obvious, especially to those who are already running their own business and understand what it takes, but being a business owner is hard work. There is an image of a successful business owner sitting back and letting everyone else do what is needed, reaping the rewards at the end of the day. This can be achieved and is certainly a goal to aspire to, but it’s not how it will be at the start, and may not be this way for many years, if at all.
Being a business owner is going to require a lot of hard work and sacrifice to be successful. The rewards will be worth every moment, but you will have to keep going through the hardships to reach the result.
A business owner needs to be able to do everything within their business at the start – as time goes on, they will be able to hire people or outsource – and this includes:

Your Income Will Fluctuate
One of the joys of running your own business is that you are your own boss and can make all the decisions yourself. You can take vacation days when needed, and you can run the business in the way you see fit.
There are downsides to this, however. One of these is that your income may fluctuate from month to month, depending on how well your business is doing. When you have a job and are employed by someone else, you can rely on a pay packet each week or month, no matter what. When you’re the boss, whether you have staff or not, this may not be the case.
It’s a good practice to have some savings put aside as you build your business to cover the slower months at least until you have a good idea of what your average earnings might be.
