Despite the overwhelming hype around the metaverse, there are still those who doubt that the idea is ready for adoption. Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, is apparently one of them as he thinks the concept of virtual worlds is still in its nascent.

In a recent interview with the Dutch news outlet Bright, Cook said he doesn't think that the average person even knows "what the metaverse is." He said:

"I always think it's important that people understand what something is. And I'm really not sure the average person can tell you what the metaverse is."

Cook thinks people would rather live their life outside virtual reality as the technology is for set periods, but not a "way to communicate well." He added:

"So I'm not against it, but that's how I look at it."

In November 2021, Tim Cook revealed he personally owns cryptocurrencies as part of a diversified portfolio. The Apple CEO said at the DealBook Online Summit he found it reasonable to invest in cryptocurrencies even though the Cupertino-based tech giant made no steps towards accepting them in its products.
