Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has said during the annual EthCC community conference in Paris that the network bandwidth will reach 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) in the future.

He has spoken during the event about (The Merge), during which the blockchain of the second largest crypto on the market will switch to the proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus algorithm, and presented long-term development prospects.

Other updates will include the implementation of sharding and the expansion of the use of Rollups, which will increase network performance.

According to Buterin:

"At the end of this roadmap, Ethereum will be a much more scalable system. By the end, Ethereum will be able to process 100,000 transactions per second."

However, Buterin has said that achieving these goals is difficult due to the complexity of the network and the speed with which it changes.

The Ethereum developers have scheduled the implementation of The Merge for next September 19.
