Felipe Vallejo, regulatory director of crypto exchange Bitso, has said that Chivo, El Salvador's official Bitcoin wallet, has made great strides since its launch in 2021.
Bitso is the largest trading platform in Latin America and the main provider of technical solutions for Chivo. A spokesperson for the company has previously said that it "provides custodial services, providing functions related to storage and application security, as well as exchange services."
According to the platform's regulatory director, the national wallet has made great strides despite challenges. For example, in September last year, El Salvador's president, Nayib Bukele, admitted technical problems with the implementation of the application, and in December, user funds disappeared.

However, in February, the government announced the integration of AlphaPoint's solution into Chivo. The New York-based startup improved the wallet's user interface, fixed bugs and added enhanced support for the Lightning Network.
Vallejo has said:
"Through our work with the Chivo Wallet, we’ve been able to see how a significant part of the population has turned to using the application for safe and easy transactions."
