Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel, one of the world's largest chipmakers, has criticized Bitcoin for its impact on the environment in an interview with Bloomberg Technology. According to him:
"A single ledger entry in Bitcoin consumes enough energy to power your house for almost a day. That is a climate crisis."
The company's CEO has also recalled the company's plans to launch a new mining chip that "will help advance this technology in a responsible and sustainable way."

According to the announcement, the devices will be released in "small chips," so their launch will have minimal impact on current production processes. The company has promised to reveal details at the ISSCC international conference in February.
Gelsinger has also promised to work to address the situation, adding that the technology could transform currency, transactions and supply chains.
