Kraken CEO Sees No Monopoly Threat for Metaverses

The nascent market of metaverses is unlikely to have a monopoly company in the foreseeable future, Kraken CEO, Jesse Powell, said during the Crypto Goes Mainstream event.

The Kraken CEO said there will likely be multiverse, citing such big videogames such as "World of Warcraft" and "Diablo" as independent metaverses:

"And I think it is the same for Facebook another kind of proprietary platforms where I think they will support these blockchain assets and some representation them in their world, and they will all have different rules. And I do not think anyone is going to have a monopoly on this."

Powell also said the exchange is working on something that "is going to be pretty awesome," answering the question about the non-fungible tokens-related initiatives. While he did not elaborate, he said Kraken might roll out a new product toward the end of this year or early next year.

Earlier in October, the social network giant Facebook changed its corporate name to Meta as part of a major rebrand. The rebranded social network will give its users tools to share "immersive experiences" with other people.
