Oh, Game of Thrones fans rejoice! Not only the final season of the TV saga is almost upon us, but today, September 20, is the birthday of the One who made it all possible. Of course, it’s George R. R. Martin we’re talking about, and it's not just any birthday, it’s his 70th anniversary. To mark this special day, team Insider has got together to draw some parallels between the Seven Kingdoms and the world of crypto.

Beware - spoilers ahead!

Jon Snow: let's set aside the question of him being a bastard or a true heir to the throne for now, as he knows it and throughout his whole life he had been treated as a real Stark. Given that we all like Starks, as much as we like bitcoin for we see something pure and candid in them both, let’s suppose that Jon is the bitcoin cash, which may still prove itself of being more worthy than the bitcoin it once split off from through a hardfork.

Cersei Lannister blowing up the sept: Big bang and a dramatic fall - the price of bitcoin has followed the same path towards the end of last year. The young king falls similarly to the first crypto after the big explosion, but in our case, that fall has got to come to an end.

The Red Wedding: an episode that shocked many... Many Starks and their allies died at the hands of a local regulator who punished those fighting for justice as they did not meet his standards and laws. Much like what the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission did with the Bitcoin-ETFs, don’t you think? Exactly 9 ETFs were brutally cut down. This still sends chills down the spine, let's just hope that no more Starks die any time soon.

Birth of the dragons: just like the three beautiful and unprotected creatures came to life from the fire to follow their mother to the end, so have litecoin, ethereum and XPR come to life to follow its master bitcoin in all its market fluctuating endeavors. Some of those noble altcoins have since strained from that path and even joined the other side of the war.

White Walkers: almost invincible ice cold creatures that have appeared out of nowhere and are in quest of conquering the world. They inspire terror, armed to the teeth and attack without fear. This kind of resembles the hundreds of tokens out there, which no one knows how to obtain and most importantly have no obvious use.

Hodor: he has only one thing on his mind, to hodor, or to hold the door, or is it to hodl? Yes - that's right he is hodling, and so should we all follow the example and be true to our goals in life.

Arya Stark: a girl has no name! She has gone with her own path and is developing into a rather formidable warrior, which of course can be anyone and yet no one. The total anonymity and the fast movement of her dagger, a perfect way to symbolize the monero. No one knows who you are, where and why, just know that she was there.

Sansa Stark: just like what happened to her when she was captured and held in a tower without any chance to escape, similar was the fate of the 850,000 bitcoins stolen during the MT.Gox heist. Only recently a candle of hope was lit, that soon they might come back home.

King's Landing: arguably the most promising and well-developed land in the entire world of Game of Thrones. Well protected, a true place to be a house for the king. And so is Malta, the “blockchain island” and a dream place for all the crypto firms out there that seek a place to grow to their true power.

Lord Varys: the spymaster who runs the network of informants, having the eyes and ears everywhere and knowing the big movements beforehand. So do the crypto market whales and those holding the keys to the silk road wallets. When they move you see them, but they may never do so, but they are there.
