With the latest listing, Robinhood now supports 11 cryptocurrencies, including compound (COMP), polygon (MATIC), solana (SOL) and shiba inu (SHIB). The fintech company added that the first 10,000 users that will quote its tweets will receive up to $10 of SHIB.
Steve Quirk, Chief Brokerage Officer at Robinhood, noted that despite the platform listed the so-called meme altcoins, it remains "committed to providing a safe and educational crypto platform." Although the assets are already available to buy and sell on the Robinhood app, deposits and withdrawals will not be available immediately.
The move comes a week after it expanded access to its cryptocurrency wallet to every eligible person on the WenWallets waitlist of more than two million people. All users who have previously signed up for the waitlist can now send and receive any of the cryptocurrencies available on Robinhood. However, due to local regulations, the new feature is not yet available in all US states, excluding users from Hawaii and New York.
