The company said in a press release that its users can also send ether to external wallets directly through the Bakkt App or store in Bakkt Warehouse, a cryptocurrency custodian. Bakkt CEO, Gavin Michael, claims the addition of ether is a "complement" to the company's growing ecosystem of partners and assets. Bakkt's shares amid the news are rising by over 8%. As of press time, BKKT is trading at $36.4.
The expansion comes after Bakkt opened trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol "BKKT." The Georgia-based company also earlier selected Google Cloud as its cloud provider after the company enabled its customers to link virtual Bakkt Visa Debit Card with Google Pay to purchase everyday goods and services online.
