Chart of the Day: Bitcoin Challenges Traditional Payment Systems
The volume of bitcoin transactions amounted to a record $1.3 trillion in 2018. With such an indicator, the cryptocurrency has surpassed PayPal, one of the world's largest payment systems. This data is contained in the report by the New York investment company ARK Invest.
At the same time, bitcoin seriously lags behind payment giants by the number of transactions. However, according to the analysts, this doesn’t matter, since what’s important is the amount of funds transferred.

According to the report, the number of transactions bitcoin has, of course, does not go to any comparison with Visa or Mastercard. But in fact, compare the first cryptocurrency with other payment platforms in this aspect. It is better to look at the amount of money transferred. Every day, $3-4 billion or about $1.3 trillion a year is transmitted through bitcoin.

The next one who stands in the way of bitcoin is Mastercard.
