Bitcoin is the first and most popular cryptocurrency. But it didn’t appear out of nowhere, it was preceded by a number of projects and revelations.
The main predecessors are believed to be the three payment systems: B-Money, Bit Gold and eCash. But they all turned out to be uncompetitive, unlike bitcoin which in turn led the way for the creation of some 1,600 new coins.
