Bitcoin is highly fungible (interchangeable), portable, durable, secure, easily transactable, etc. However, Bitcoin's market capitalization is much smaller than that of gold considering that was established relatively recently, while gold has been established as a store of wealth throughout human history ($114 billion vs. $9.2 trillion). Furthermore, with 4.3 billion daily trading volume Bitcoin is behind gold with 50 billion.
