Bakkt Bitcoin Futures Around The Corner

The official launch the Bakkt cryptocurrency platform will take place on December 12. Its first product will be the daily bitcoin futures with physical delivery of the asset. This information was confirmed by the New York Stock Exchange’s (NYSE) operator, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

The report says that every futures contract that the buyer pays in dollars will provide the delivery of one bitcoin (Bitcoin). Digital assets will be stored in a special ICE repository, and the contracts will be cleared by the company’s division – Clear US.

Japan Invites Financial Regulators to Discuss Crypto

Japanese Financial Services Agency, country’s top financial watchdog has held the first roundtable discussing cryptocurrency related issues along with other regulators from 15 countries.

The meeting dubbed ‘Roundtable on supervisory oversight of crypto-assets — recent developments and challenges going forward’ might be held on a regular base in the future, as JFSA is planning to set tight cooperation with other countries' authorities “to build on supervisory cooperation in order to prevent money laundering because of the borderlessness of crypto-assets”.

Square Launches Cold Storage Solution for Bitcoin

Square payment startup published the source code of offline storage for bitcoins SubZero, which has hardware support. Documentation appeared on the GitHub. As the company explains, its solution is based on a Hardware Security Module (HSM), which is a specialized device that is commonly used in the payments industry for storing cryptographic information that is not intended for public distribution, including keys, and perform operations with them.

The company has developed a technology that allows users to send bitcoin from a hot wallet to a cold storage at any time. However, when users do the opposite, the program requires additional identification in order to initiate a transaction that delivers bitcoin from offline storage to online.
