France Adopts ICO Laws

A new law establishing guidelines for the initial coin offerings (ICO) was adopted in France. This was announced by the French Minister of Finance Bruno Le Maire. After the reduction of more than half of the taxes on profits received from the cryptocurrency trade, France adopted a new law for the primary placement of tokens.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

  • France is trying to become one of the friendliest nations for the cryptocurrency community.
  • Earlier this year it presented the country cutting tax on cryptocurrency to 19% - half the previous rate. The legal ground for the new framework was discussed for many months before it was formally introduced.

U.S. CFTC: Crypto to Bloom Under ‘No Harm’ Regulations

During the Singapore Summit which is being held these days, the Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Christopher Giancarlo has expressed his opinion regarding the steps regulators should take while dealing with the relatively new type of finance. Giancarlo said that the area is evolving thanks to the “no harm” approach from the governments' side.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

  • In 2015 the CFTC has recognized the digital currencies, as commodities. Later this year, the U.S. District Judge Jack Weinstein in Brooklyn ruled that Bitcoin (Bitcoin) can be regulated as commodities by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
  • The CFTC and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission are regularly calling to fight with money laundering and machinations in the digital money market.

Mike Novogratz: Crypto Market Slump is Over

The cryptocurrency market has reached a minimum, now it will start to grow. So says the well-known investor and founder of Galaxy Digital Capital Management Mike Novogratz. Novogratz published a chart of the Bloomberg Galaxy Crypto Index, which, in his opinion, shows that the market reached the same point as it was in mid-November 2017. IBM and HACERA have created a blockchain-based “Unbounded Registry”. The new ledger will include all the blockchain consortiums, distributed registries, and decentralized applications in order to systematize companies involved in the industry and make information about them available to the world. The development team also included representatives from Intel, Huawei, Batavia, Hitachi and the Australian Blockchain Association.

  • In 1830 the first Yellow Pages appeared as an organized catalog of organizations. It had a serious impact on trade and made a key contribution to the industrial revolution. Basically the Yellow Pages put a business on the map and made companies famous around the world.
  • Similarly, in the late 1990s, ICANN also coordinated several online catalogs by creating a Domain Name System (DNS), which became a key for the Internet and the World Wide Web.

Mt.Gox: Time For Corporate Clients To Claim

Mt.Gox rehabilitation program started to include corporate clients of the exchange. Previously, the refunding of the lost assets was only available for individuals. The Mt.Gox website reports that the deadline for filing an application for compensation for companies is set at the same date as for ordinary users, and it will finish on October 22. The document regarding the expansion of the program was signed by the representative of the site for bankruptcy, lawyer Nobuaki Kobayashi.

  • Due to the Mt.Gox hacker attack, lots of companies lost their funds, but the payment of compensation has not yet affected them.
  • In Japan, an incident with the crypto exchange caused a tightening of the regulations of cryptocurrency market.
