BIS Report Picks Holes in Crypto
Bank of International Settlements (BIS) has voiced its opinion that as cryptocurrencies get bigger the less efficient they become. Breakdown in trust and lower efficiency have been singled out in the report as key issues.
BIS says that cryptocurrencies would not be in a position to replace traditional money.
They also noted that the big networks are prone to congestion, singling out bitcoin for having high purchase fees and a limited amount of transactions that the system can process.
Track Groceries With Blockchain
A local government in the south of India is resorting to the use of blockchain technology to organise the supply of food to the area. The project will attempt to improve on the efficiency of the current supply chain network servicing the Kerala area.
Backed by a local think tank, The Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC), the Blockchain will be used to continuously track production, procurement and even the distribution of groceries.
U.S. Border On Blockchain
Blockchain startup Factom won a grant from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which is part of the final phase of the Silicon Valley S & T (SVIP) innovative program. It was set out to deliver a beta testing platform for the protection of data received from surveillance cameras and ground sensors of the U.S. Border Patrol. The office has awarded $192,380 to Factom.
Binance Joins the Malta Plan
Binance, one of the leading crypto exchanges, will join the MSX FinTech Accelerator Program, which supports fintech projects and crypto startups in Malta, the local Stock Exchange informs.
