Crypto world is celebrating Bitcoin Pizza Day

Exactly eight years ago on May 22, the Czech crypto-enthusiast Laszlo Hanyecz made the first real bitcoin purchase in history. Hanyecz Hanesh transferred 10,000 BTC to his programmer friend, who ordered two pizzas from Papa John's restaurant. Back then, the price for 1 bitcoin was about $0.003 (so he actually paid $30 for pizzas). Today, 10,000 BTC are worth $83 million.However, Hanesh does not regret such an expensive purchase. According to him, in this way he helped bitcoin spread in the world.

Ukrainian Police Officers Were Stealing Electricity for Illegal Mining Farm

Police officers of the Communication Department of the National Police in the Rivne region, Ukraine for about four months were involved in the illegal cryptocurrency mining directly in the workplace. The police officers are charged with the theft of electricity belonging to the management of the National Police in the Rivne region. The amountof electricity that was stolen or what cryptocurrency were they mining is not reported.

CheapAir Accepts BCH, Litecoin and Dash

US based CheapAir, a travel booking site, added Bitcoin Cash, Dash and Litecoin as cryptocurrency payment options, reports Crypto Globe today. Bitcoin payments were already available on the site, and due to growing demand from its customers Company decided to accept three new coins as well.

Ohio To Recognize Smart Contracts and Blockchain Records

Ohio state senator Matt Dolan introduced a bill that proposes to include blockchain records and smart contracts into the electronic records section. If senate Bill 300 is signed into law, Ohio will join Arizona, and possibly California, Florida and Tennessee in recognizing blockchain transactions.

The Maltese government passed a bill regulating ICO’s & Cryptocurrencies and related matters today. The 63 page document, published by authorities, clarifies legal definitions of cryptocurrency and Blockchain related concepts and provides a solid legal ground for investors. Bill’s short title is the “Virtual Financial Assets Act, 2018”.

Argentinian Bank Begins Using Bitcoin In International Transactions

Argentinian Banco Masventas announced starting this week it will begin allowing customers to send cross-border transactions using bitcoin. The regional bank entered into an agreement with the Latin American exchange Bitex, founded in 2014, and will use bitcoin as an alternative to Swift.
