AirAsia planning own cryptocurrency. Popular budget airline AirAsia has confirmed plans to launchproprietary cryptocurrency called BigCoin, Nikkei Asia Review reported. Starting in April, ticket prices will be quoted on the group's website in conventional currencies as well as in BigCoin. BigCoin will see its own ICO, which will allow the coins to be bought at exchanges.

Chinese cryptocurrency exchange OKCoin enters South Korea. One of the largest cryptocurrency businesses in China exchange services provider OKCoin announced on Tuesday the launch of its trading platform in South Korea. According to the company's statement, the new business has been named OKCoin Korea and it allows buying and selling Bitcoin (Bitcoin) with KRW fast securely.

Japan's Monex offers to buy cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck. Japanese online broker Monex is offering to buy Coincheck, the local cryptocurrency exchange hit by a high-profile $530 million theft of digital money. Monex will reportedly offer several billion yen for a majority stake in the Tokyo-based exchange. If agreement is reached, the firm will install a new management team and rebuild the cryptocurrency exchange under its own aegis.

Alibaba sues Dubai-based firm over trademark use. Alibaba has filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Manhattan against a Dubai-based firm for using its trademarked name to raise more than $3.5 million in cryptocurrency known as Alibabacoins. The Chinese e-commerce giant said Alibabacoin Foundation’s “prominent, repeated, and intentionally misleading” use of its trademarks is designed to confuse consumers.”

SEC charges startup co-founders with fraudulent ICO. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday charged two co-founders of Centra Tech with orchestrating a fraudulent initial coin offering that raised more than $32 million from thousands of investors in 2017. According to a Securities and Exchange Commission complaint filed in the District Court of Southern New York, Sohrab “Sam” Sharma and Robert Farkas were the operators of an initial coin offering though a business called Centra Tech Inc.

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization stands at $279 292 881 976.
