The Hyperledger technical steering committee approved the Ursa project, a blockchain based modular cryptographic library for developers. The company says that the new DLT library will enable developers to modify their projects using a simple configuration file.

The project is increasingly in need of complex cryptographic solutions due to its constant growth, Hyperledger explained. Ursa is a transition from the implementation of their own separate protocols to work with the shared library. The project should prevent wasting time when working on duplicate solutions. Ursa will also simplify development and analysis, which will significantly lower the entry threshold.

The library itself is divided into two groups. The first contains simple, standardized, modular cryptographic algorithms. The second includes “more exotic cryptography”. The software will be written in Rust, but all language interfaces that are commonly used in Hyperledger will be supported.

The developers expect that Ursa will ensure the development of the entire blockchain. It will be easier for start-up projects to get out of the garage if their teams have access to high-quality algorithmic modules.

It is worth noting that Hyperledger is becoming increasingly popular for institutional and commercial use. In October, a partnership was announced between the Hyperledger Project and the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance. Its goal is to create uniform standards for corporate distributed networks developed by the participants of these two organizations.

Partners are confident that cross-platform collaboration based on the principles of commitment to open source will help accelerate mass adoption of blockchain technologies in the business environment.
