Multinational software company SAP has created and launched new services to help its customers integrate blockchain into their work as quickly as possible. This became known during the TechEd event in Las Vegas recently.

A solution called Network Extensibility for Open Business Collaboration enables customers and partners to most easily integrate solutions based on distributed ledger technology (DLT). In addition, the solution will help to integrate SAP’s blockchain apps with nodes and networks that are operated externally. Also, as part of a solution, SAP began to support Quorum technology based on Ethereum blockchain. This technology was originally created for businesses. This step is intended to complement current SAP support for Hyperledger Fabric and MultiChain.

“Blockchain presents a powerful way to create greater trust, transparency and simplified collaboration among businesses. SAP empowers customers to harness the value of blockchain by offering easy integration, technological flexibility and industry-specific co-innovation” Gil Perez, head of digital customer initiatives at SAP, said.

SAP also announced two industry consortia to support and develop innovations related to the use of blockchain in various markets. One of the organizations is focused on pharmaceuticals and biomedical sciences, and the other on the use of blockchain in agribusiness, retail and in the consumer goods market.

It is noted that consortia will include customers, SAP partners, and other interested companies, who will work together to develop scenarios for the use of blockchain and identify opportunities for inter-sectoral cooperation. The main idea of the initiatives is to improve the transparency and efficiency of the DLT, noted in SAP.

The German company SAP is the largest developer of corporate software. It previously launched the SAP Cloud Platform Blockchain, which has become part of the innovative SAP Leonardo system. The main purpose of this platform is to enable any business to use the DLT for their needs. For example, an enterprise using the SAP Cloud Platform Blockchain can quickly organize a decentralized network with several nodes to test simple applications and assess the potential of the technology.

Also earlier, SAP launched a joint innovation program, within which it invites all interested projects to create joint blockchain-based solutions. The company seeks to expand the use of distributed register technology to all industries and business processes. A variety of international companies have already joined the blockchain development program SAP. They work together to integrate distributed registry technologies into technological solutions using the SAP Cloud Platform Blockchain service.

By the way, the SAP initiative was supported by representatives of various industries from the consumer goods market to the aerospace industry and the public sector. All of them find options for using blockchain in their field.
